An Introduction to Walking and Running on a TRUEFORM

THE TRUEFORM DIFFERENCE

A TRUEFORM isn’t a traditional treadmill without a motor.

It’s a different running experience.

On a motorized treadmill, the belt moves for you and you adjust your stride to match the speed of the machine. On a TRUEFORM, you create the speed. Your position, posture, cadence and application of force determine how the belt moves beneath you.

That means there can be a short learning curve the first time you step on one.

And that’s a good thing.

The treadmill gives you immediate feedback. Move too far forward and the belt accelerates. Drift back and it slows. Overreach with your stride and you feel it. Find a balanced position underneath your body and the movement becomes smoother, quieter and more natural.

For many first-time users, the biggest mistake is trying to run on a TRUEFORM exactly the same way they run on a traditional treadmill.

You don’t need to chase the front of the machine or force the belt to move.

You need to let the treadmill respond to you.

That’s why we created the video below.

We’ll walk you through how to get comfortable on both the TRUEFORM Runner and TRUEFORM Trainer, from your first few steps to walking, jogging and eventually running naturally at your own pace.

A FEW THINGS TO REMEMBER

  • Start with walking and give yourself time to feel how the belt responds.
  • Stay tall and relaxed rather than leaning forward into the handrails.
  • Let your feet land underneath you instead of reaching far out in front.
  • Think rhythm and position before speed.
  • Don’t force the treadmill. When your mechanics and position are right, the speed comes naturally.

Your first goal isn’t to go fast. It’s to learn how to move with the machine.

Once that clicks, TRUEFORM becomes remarkably intuitive.
